Teacher Credentialing

photo of studentsAll teachers in Riverside County must register their teaching credentials and renew them when necessary through RCOE. Currently, there are 84,686 credentials on file with RCOE, which processed 11,500 applications during 2003-2004 and issued 6,900 Temporary County Certificates.

RCOE staff provides guidance to prospective teachers on credential requirements and also issues emergency credentials when appropriate. All prospective school employees must be fingerprinted. RCOE fingerprints about 10,000 people annually, including RCOE employees, employees in school districts, and outside agencies.
