Riverside County Superintendent of Schools Kenneth M. Young takes the Oath of Office at the beginning of a new four-year term
Riverside County Superintendent of Schools Kenneth M. Young today (January 12, 2011) took the Oath of Office at the start of a new four-year term.
Young was appointed as the 11th Riverside County Superintendent of Schools by the Riverside County Board of Education in 2007. He was elected to a full four-year term last June.
He said in the last three years, the national recession and the fiscal crisis facing California’s public schools have presented constant challenges, but educators have remained dedicated to preparing students for graduation, college and the workforce.
“As I see so many dedicated people across our county giving their all – and then some – to help the children of the rising generation have a bright future, it motivates me to do more,” Young said. “It inspires me with hope for the future.”
The Oath of Ofice was administered by Appellate Court Justice Douglas P. Miller, who said he was proud of the fact that his father was a school principal.
“I became aware that he made a difference in the lives of his students, just as all of you make a difference in the lives of students each day, ” Miller said.
